So, many of you are starting the 52 Week Money Saving Challenge!!
I love this idea and encourage everyone to do it!
I do know that many people have tried this and never been able to complete it, so today we are going to talk about how to COMPLETE it!
So if you would like to have an extra $1,300 (or more) by the end of the year then join us in this challenge! I can’t imagine that anyone would say No to that! 🙂 Wouldn’t it be wonderful to have $1,300 for Christmas, vacation, or whatever you want? 🙂
Of course there are many ways to save money. Some have 401k’s and retirement accounts, some have money put in a savings account each pay period, and others will have CD’s, stocks, and bonds. Some do fun things with their money like put it in jars. 🙂
This is a fun way to save money. It is also very simple.
All it requires is a container lol and of course money! :))
Each week you put a specific amount of money in the container and the amount increases each week. By the end of the year you should have $1,378! Not bad huh?? So, now I am going to show you three different ways to complete the 52 week money saving challenge.
Original 52 Week Money Saving Challenge
Start off putting $1.oo in your container on the first week of January. (you will be increasing it by $1.00 each week). The second week of January you will add $2.00 to the container. By the last week in December you will be adding $52 to the container. Then you will have $1,378 by the end of the year.
Reverse 52 Week Money Saving Challenge
This is pretty much the same thing only reversed. You will start the year by putting $52.00 in the container on the first week of January (you will decrease the amount each week by $1.00). The second week of January you will add $51.00. Then as it gets closer to Christmas and the new year when you are purchasing presents for all your loved ones you are adding less. So the last week of December you will only be adding $1.oo to the container.
Save When You Can 🙂
Now, this could be your favorite method! You will use the same basic principle as the other methods but save whatever amount you can when you can. If you are having a really great week and have more to add then do it! Have a list of what needs to be added each week ($1.00, $2.00, $3.00, $4.00, $5.00, $51.00, $52.00) and when you add that amount mark it off your list. Keep adding every week and marking off the list until the list is complete. You may find that you have $50 more than once and you can add it to the container. Great! Do it and mark it on your list of what you added. You can end up saving more money than you thought or planned.
Just a few suggestions here, label your jar and keep it visible! It is very important that you label your jar and make sure everyone knows what the jar is for so no one is taking out of it for any reason. (ice cream truck, lunch money, etc..) Also, when you label your jar and have it visible it helps keep you accountable. It will be a constant reminder of needing to add for each week and making sure you don’t forget. Having it visible and labeled will also make/keep you proud. If you are doing this challenge be PROUD of YOURSELF!
